PRF for Hair Loss Treatment

PRF for Hair Growth

Discover a fresh formula for confidence with our advanced PRF hair restoration treatment.

What is PRF Treatment?

As we age, our hair naturally gets thinner. It’s a fact of life. Some - including an increasing number of celebrities and well-known figures - embrace it, while others are keen to restore the thicker hair enjoyed in youth. At Fresh Face + Eye, we believe the only ‘right’ approach is the one you feel is best for you.

We know hair loss doesn’t just affect how we look, it can also affect how we feel through our self-confidence.

PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is a powerful, non-surgical treatment proven to help restore hair regrowth. It’s a suitable hair restoration for men and women.

What’s the difference between PRF vs PRP hair restoration?

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy has actually been around since the ‘70s, since it was first used during open-heart surgery.

In 2006, PRP started being used in dermatology to help with hair regrowth. After seeing the results from PRP, doctors slowed the speed of the blood being spun and saw a different outcome: more white blood cells, stem cells, and more healing properties. PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) was born.

While PRF wasn’t the pioneer in hair regrowth, it has proven to be the most effective compared to other hair restoration product options on the market such as laser hair restoration. PRF is one of the best hair restoration for stimulating hair regrowth and awakening dormant hair follicles as stem cell hair restoration.

The two share some basic similarities, but there are a few key distinctions that put PRF on top:

  • PRF requires less blood to be drawn than PRP.
  • PRF has advanced healing properties – PRF is spun at a lower speed, allowing more white blood cells and stem cells to remain in the platelet layer collected for treatment.
  • PRF products contain approximately 10x the platelet concentration that is found within the body.

How does PRF work?

PRF requires drawing a small amount of blood, then spinning it at a low speed in a PRF centrifuge. This results in a serum with a high concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and stem cells.

Once the serum has been collected, shallow injections are made into thinning areas of the hair. These PRF injections cause hair follicles to grow by stimulating stem cells while promoting and accelerating tissue regeneration and healing. PRF is especially effective in the early stages of hair loss and can stimulate dormant hair follicles to return to a growth phase.

Am I a good candidate for PRF?

Experiencing hair loss or hair thinning? Then you’re most likely a good candidate for PRF. You’ll see the best results the earlier you start treatment while your hair is still capable of growing. PRF is good hair restoration for both women and men.

What risks are involved?

Because PRF is produced from your own blood, the treatment is a very safe procedure with few side effects. As experts in PRF, you’re in safe hands with Dr Baljeet Purewal and her team. The process is simple and relatively painless, with no downtime and very few risks.

Tylenol can help with any pain. The most common side effect is mild swelling for a few days post-procedure.

What do I need to know about PRF aftercare?

PRF has no downtime so it’s an ideal procedure to even have done on your lunch hour. If you do feel any soreness, standard over-the-counter pain relievers will take care of it. Do NOT take anti-inflammatories as they will disrupt the intended effect of the PRF. Mild swelling is normal and part of the process. Try to stay away from ice-packs or other treatments for swelling.

You cannot wash your hair until the next morning after your procedure. There are no limitations on styling, although if you do find your scalp is tender, waiting a day or two to use blow-drying or heated tools will minimize your discomfort.

What is the hair restoration cost of PRF?

This will be determined on consultation.
